Due to its product placement, American Airlines acted as a partner and sponsor for the original home video releases of the first two films. It was filmed in Chicago and Evanston, Illinois, with the airport scenes in the beginning of the film being shot at two different concourses at O'Hare International Airport. Call me hard-hearted, call me cynical, but please don't call me if they make “Home Alone 3.” These words, from my review of “Home Alone 2,” now have to be eaten. To my astonishment, I liked the third “Home Alone” movie better than the first two; I'm even going so far as to recommend it, although not to grownups unless they are having a very silly day. This movie follows the exact formula of the first two, but is funnier and gentler, has a real charmer for a hero, and provides splendid wish fulfillment and escapism for kids in, say, the lower grades. He is able to devise a whole array of booby traps in order to foil the Wet/Sticky Bandits.

The duo discussed plans for robbing the toy store that night, before Kevin escaped, having recorded the entire conversation without the Sticky Bandits noticing. The next morning, as the family prepared in haste to leave, Kevin was still sleeping. During a headcount, his cousin Heather mistook the McCallisters' neighbor's son and Kevin's friend Mitch Murphy, for Kevin.
They block off the road to the house, and Alice duct tapes Mrs. Hess to a porch chair in her garage and leaves the door open. By this point, Alex has armed the house with more violent booby traps. He runs to the attic and goes into the dumbwaiter down to the basement. Unger and Jernigan jump, but the trampoline gives way and they fall into a frozen pool. Alice then wriggles her way into the dumbwaiter chute, but falls down to the basement. He is then cornered by Beaupre, but scares him off with a fake gun.

After this, Peter says that he will go in the front of the house and then tells Unger to go to the north side and Alice to go to the south side. All the while, Alex goes to opposite sides of the house and blows the dog whistle which wraps the collar around Alice's legs. When Alex blows the whistle one last time, Rollie runs to the back of the house, dragging Alice on her back through the bushes which knocks off her hat and glasses until she breaks free of the leash and Rollie runs off.
The second film's in-flight scenes were done on the airline's actual aircraft instead. The four wanted criminals along with Mrs. Hess use the airline's Boeing 727 to travel to Chicago from San Francisco. The McCallister family flew on Paris on the airline's McDonnell Douglas DC-10. In the 2006 PS2 video game Home Alone, Kevin is one of four playable characters.
'Home Alone 2: Lost In New York' Plot Trivia
Where the first film thought small, with just a pair of common burglars, 3 goes big, with a team of international terrorists. Still, the film's beginning shows some cleverness in setting up a new, original home alone situation, but it quickly devolves into garbage. The main problem with Home Alone 3 is that it's so pacified that it doesn't have the darkness or edginess needed to believe that these are real characters, or that this situation is dangerous.
Beaupre, Alice, Jernigan and Unger break in, spring the traps, and suffer various injuries. While the four pursue Alex around the house, he flees and rescues Mrs. Hess, who has been duct taped to a chair in her garage by Alice. Beaupre ambushes Alex, but the latter uses a bubble gun resembling a Glock to scare him off. The film tells the story of an 8-year-old boy who defends his home from a dangerous band of international criminals working for a terrorist organization. It is the third film in the Home Alone franchise, and the first not to feature actor Macaulay Culkin, director Chris Columbus, or composer John Williams. It is also the final film in the Home Alone franchise to receive a theatrical release.
In the furnace, Alice and Beaupre finds Jernigan in the bathroom. When she tries to open in from the other side, her hand gets caught in industrial strength glue. After getting up, she tries to walk through the mud, but falls backwards, tripping another cord and causing another pot to fall on her face. All the while, the four are unaware that they are being watched by neighborhood kid, Alex Pruitt (Alex D. Linz). After Alex calls the cops and they fail to catch them, Alice wonders what went wrong with the burglar alarm and figures that there could be a watcher in the neighborhood. The second time around, Alice is jogging with a fake baby in a stroller when she spots the cops and tells Peter to abort the mission.
At San Francisco International Airport, however, Mrs. Hess accidentally takes the bag with the remote control car in it. The thieves then come to Chicago and systematically search every house in Mrs. Hess's suburb to find the chip. Meanwhile, FBI agents and Chicago PD officers arrive at Alex's siblings' school after a tipoff from the recruitment center. Alex's family brings the agents and the police to their house, where they arrest Alice, Jernigan, and Unger. The parrot drives the remote control car into the fort and threatens to light fireworks, which are lined around the inside.
